Swisse Story

Swisse was created out of a passion for wellbeing and natural medicine by founder Kevin Ring in Melbourne, Australia in the 1960s. Since then, the Ring family and two other families, the Sabas and the Salis, have been instrumental to the growth and development of the company.

After a trip to Switzerland in the 1960s to investigate the properties of natural medicine, Kevin Ring was inspired to develop his own range of herbal and vitamin supplements. Returning to Australia, Kevin opened an organic bakery, where he specialized in wholefoods, fresh bread, and the first product in the Swisse range, Pollen tablets, which were a tonic for good health.

Interest in the Swisse range grew around Australia, and Kevin began distributing his vitamins to other states.  During this time, he developed the Swisse Ultivite – the first multivitamin product.

As the success of the company grew, Swisse soon moved to the forefront of the herbal, mineral and amino acid product industry, and the range expanded to over 200 products.

In 1991, Swisse launched its flagship product - the Swisse Women’s Ultivite. Specifically formulated for women and made with premium quality ingredients, this product was hailed as the “Rolls Royce” of women’s multivitamins. Four years later, the release of Swisse Men’s Ultivite cemented the company’s place as market leaders in multivitamins.

Michael Saba worked at his family’s sandwich bar across the road from the Swisse offices. Frequented by Swisse staff, bonds were formed and several members of the Saba family came to work for Swisse. Michael Saba served as Swisse Managing Director from 2000-2007 and remains on the company’s board today.

Swisse’s current CEO, Radek Sali, inspired by his father Professor Avni Sali’s visionary leadership in the world of integrative medicine, furthers Swisse’s scientific foundations as he spearheads the company’s vision for the future.

Under Radek’s leadership, Swisse won the Australian Business Review Weekly Award for the Most Successful Private Business of the Year in 2012, and has cemented Swisse’s place as a market leader in the wellness industry. At the forefront of integrative health in Australia, Swisse is now taking its products and philosophy to the world.
